Behavior:

The longlure frogfish is a bottom dwelling fish that can change color and texture in order to blend into its surroundings. It is an ambush predator, feeding mainly on fish and crustaceans. Frogfish have one of the fastest attacks in the animal kingdom.

Moray eels and other frogfish.

Frogfish have a modified and elongated dorsal ray called the illicium, which they use as a “fishing rod” to lure prey close so they can be eaten. The illicium may also have a role in attracting potential partners for reproduction.
