Late last summer, Reef Smart’s mapping team was wrapping up three weeks of data collection in South Florida. The team headed to Barbados just as Hurricane Irma barreled through the region causing untold damage. As the seas calmed and dive centers started to get back into the water, Reef Smart started to receive calls that some of the wrecks we had just recently mapped had changed their positions and had suffered structural damage. Yet even more surprising, was that one wreck, the Okinawa, had disappeared completely!
