Reef Smart Guides has created hundreds of dive and snorkel site 3D models from around the world. The sites on these pages represent just a sample. The sites are organized into categories for easy consultation. By default, all sites in all categories are presented. Ocean Wind

Pensacola FLORIDA

Ocean Wind is 87-foot (26.5-meter) tugboat deployed by Escambia County as an artificial reef in January 2016. The wreck hosts numerous species, including triggerfish soapfish. She sits upright with a slight list to port on a sandy seafloor.

YDT-14

Pensacola FLORIDA

YDT-14 was a U.S. Navy Yard Diving Tender (YDT) built during World War II. The Escambia County artificial reef program deployed her as an artificial reef in April 2000 along with her sister ship, YTD-15, which sits just 600 or so feet (200 meters) to the southeast.

Oriskany

Pensacola FLORIDA

USS Oriskany is an aircraft carrier deployed as an artificial reef in May 2006. Recreational divers can explore the multiple tiers of the central island that loom 60 feet (18 meters) above the deck while experienced tech divers can explore the cavernous hanger bay below decks.

Russian Freighter

Pensacola FLORIDA

The San Pablo, known locally as the Russian Freighter, was sunk by a German U-boat offshore from Costa Rica and refloated and towed to northern Florida. She she was blown up as part of a secret weapons test by the U.S. government in August 1944 just off Pensacola’s coast.

Army Tanks Wreck Trek

Miami FLORIDA

Army Tanks Wreck Trek consists of two M60 army tanks separated by a long pile of rubble. A large overturned barge called the Larsen Barge sits adjacent to the tanks. The wreck of a former treasure barge, the Mathew Lawrence Memorial Reef sits just to the east.

Tortuga

Miami FLORIDA

Tortuga was originally an offshore supply vessel. Her real claim to fame was as a prop in the 90s movie “Fair Game” starring Cindy Crawford and William Baldwin. The vessel was blown up with dynamite in the dramatic climax of the movie.

Biscayne

Miami FLORIDA

Biscayne was originally a 150-foot-long (45.7-meter) freighter deployed as an artificial reef in 1974 just to the east of Key Biscayne. The wreck lies partially submerged in the sand at a depth of 61 feet (18.5 meters).

Proteus

Miami FLORIDA

Proteus was originally a cargo ship measuring 217.5 feet (66.3 meters) in length. She was deployed as an artificial reef in 1985 and was broken up by Hurricane Andrew in 1992. She sits on a sandy seafloor at a depth of 71 feet (21.5 meters).

SS President Coolidge

Espiritu Santo, VANUATU

The SS President Coolidge is the largest shore-accessible artificial reef in the world. The ship lies on her starboard side on na gently sloping seabed, with the bow at 57 feet (17.5 meters) and the stern below 200 feet (61 meters).

Million Dollar Point

Espiritu Santo, VANUATU

Million Dollar Point is a popular shore dive in the southeast corner of Espiritu Santo. The site gets its name from the “million dollars” of U.S. Army materiel dumped into the ocean at the end of the war, consisting of trucks, diggers, bulldozers and ships.

F4U Corsair

Espiritu Santo, VANUATU

The F4U Corsair is an airplane wreck located off the east coast of Espiritu Santo. The wreck lies on a sand and coral rubble seabed at a depth of 100 feet (30.5 meters), just 0.75 miles (1.2 kilometers) from the end of the old wartime runway located at Turtle Bay.

BRITISH VIRGIN ISLANDS

The British Virgin Islands is an archipelago located in the northern Caribbean consisting of four main islands and over 50 smaller islands and cays. This British Overseas Territory has pristine coral reefs and a wide diversity of wrecks and artificial reefs to explore.

CAYMAN ISLANDS

The Cayman Islands are blessed with crystal-clear water and stunning coral reefs. These islands offers a wide diversity of sites, ranging from patch reefs to walls and grottos. There are also excellent wreck diving opportunities and the world-famous Stingray City, making this a premier destination for underwater enthusiasts.

Coral Reefs

Natural coral reefs come in all shapes and sizes, from off-shore banks and walls to patch reefs and fringing reefs. Reef Smart Guides can create 3D models of any reef type, even blending aerial modeling data to produce a combined above and below water model for shore-accessible sites.

Cozumel MEXICO

Diving in Cozumel, Mexico, features crystal-clear waters, vibrant coral reefs, and diverse marine life. It’s renowned for its drift dives along the Mesoamerican Barrier Reef, which attracts divers of all levels, but is particular popular with more experienced divers.

Northwest FLORIDA

The incredible diving in Northwest Florida, particularly around the Emerald Coast, has been a well kept secret for many years, but no longer. The area has become one of the fastest growing dive destinations and is particularly popular among wreck divers.

Resorts & Liveaboards

Reef Smart Guides creates 3D models of both resorts and liveaboard dive vessels. Our models can include cutaway elements that allow users to explore inside the model. Integrated annotations provide additional information and can link to existing 360 virtual tours.

Roatan HONDURAS

Diving in Roatan, which is one of the popular Bay islands of Honduras, offers stunning coral walls with an abundance of marine life. The island’s warm, clear waters and diverse dive sites make it a top destination for both divers and snorkelers.
