Army Tanks Wreck Trek (also known as the southern end of the Anchorage Wreck Trek) consists of two M60 army tanks separated by a long pile of rubble. A large overturned barge called the Larsen Barge sits adjacent to the tanks. The wreck of a former treasure barge, the Mathew Lawrence Memorial Reef (which also goes by the name #7) sits just to the east and was deployed as an artificial reef in 1995 as a memorial for a pioneer in the development of underwater housings. The tanks were deployed as artificial reefs in 1994 as a part of joint initiative to reef Army tanks throughout Florida waters. The trek can be explored on a single dive, although the full Anchorage wreck trek extends more than 600 feet (200 meters) to the north.
