Joe Patti Memorial Reef

The Joe Patti Memorial Reef is a large, 175-foot (53.5-meter) by 40-foot (12-meter) barge with multiple steel structures welded to its deck. The barge and its associated Pensacola-themed artwork were deployed as an artificial reef in July 2013.

The Joe Patti Memorial Reef is a large, 175-foot (53.5-meter) by 40-foot (12-meter) barge with multiple steel structures welded to its deck. The barge and its associated Pensacola-themed artwork were deployed as an artificial reef in July 2013. It currently rests upright on a sandy seabed at a max depth of 51 feet (15.5 meters). At its highest point, the artwork reaches a depth of just 39 feet (12 meters), making this open space a popular dive site for divers of all experience levels. The barge is heavily encrusted with marine growth, and it supports a variety of marine creatures, including green sea turtles, Goliath grouper and amberjacks.
