Behavior:
Green sea turtles are vegetarians that feed on seagrass and algae. Juveniles may also consume jellyfish, snails, crabs, and other invertebrates. At night green sea turtles sleep under reef ledges, returning to the surface periodically to breathe. During nesting season (April to October),they leave the water to lay around 100 eggs in a hole they dig on the beach.
Predators:
Adults are consumed by large sharks, such as tiger shark.

Although green turtles are an endangered species, there are some locations around the world where they are still hunted for their meat and eggs. In recent years, their population has declined by roughly 50 per cent and urgent action is required to protect the species.
