The Maze is a deep wall dive on Grand Cayman’s East End. This site is suitable for all divers, but those with more experience will feel more comfortable exploring the maze-like channels that the site is famous for. Seas can be choppy and the currents moderate due to this site’s location on an exposed corner of the island. The Maze features numerous crevasses that wind their way from the mooring buoy to the drop-off, creating free-standing pinnacles that top-out at depths ranging from 55 to 65 feet (16.5 to 20 meters). The sides of the pinnacles are sheer and the space between them creates a complex environment of tall-sided swim-throughs, many of which are wide enough for divers to pass through. The reef is healthy and dotted with hard and soft corals as well as sponges. Large schools of creole wrasses and chromis abound, as well as a wide range of snapper species and parrotfishes.
