Behavior:

Yellowfin grouper have pattern of dark rectangular patches over a lighter background. They are often spotted resting alone on the seafloor near reef walls, where they prey on smaller fish and squid. They are fished for food in many areas around the world and are considered Near Threatened by the IUCN, with a declining population base.

Predators:

Sharks and larger grouper.
