Behavior:
Tobaccofish are found in a range of habitats, from sand and rubble areas to reef walls. They are most active during the day, when they hunt for small fish and crustaceans, sometimes alongside goatfish. At night, they hide in reef cracks and crevices.
Predators:
Grouper, jacks and eels.
Did you know?
Tobaccofish may spawn as many as 16 times in one day, with from one to nine different partners. Because individuals of this species have both sexes at the same time, they sometimes spawn as females and sometimes as males.
