Behavior:
Striped burrfish are members of the puffer family. Their spines are always erect rather than only when inflated like in porcupinefish and balloonfish. They feed mainly at night on invertebrates, such as hermit crabs, shrimp, barnacles and snails. They use their powerful parrotfish-like beak to crush their prey, but they can also consume algae.

The striped burrfish can inflate itself to three times its normal size when threated. The spines of the burrfish can be very sharp and can cause injury to any species that attempts to consume it.
