Behavior:

Porcupinefish are solitary nocturnal predators that feed on snails, crabs and sea urchins. They are generally slow moving fish. During the day, they are often found sheltering in reef caves or crevices.

Predators:

Dolphins and large pelagic fish, such as sharks and tuna.

Porcupinefish have the ability to inflate their body by drawing in water or air. To deter predators, individuals may double in size when fully inflated, which also helps deploy their numerous spines.
