Behavior:

Jolthead porgies are often found swimming above reefs or above the sandy areas next to reefs. They prefer hard-bottomed habitat, feeding mainly on sea urchins, molluscs and crabs. Large adults are often solitary, but the species occasionally forms schools. They are most easily distinguished by the blue line often visible under their eye.

Predators:

Sharks and barracuda.
