Behavior:

The shortnose batfish is an odd-shaped benthic fish that feeds on mollusks, crabs, fishes and polychaete worms. Their flattened bodies are often held up by stout pectoral fins that can be used to “walk” along the seabed. This species has a small lure on their snout to attract their prey.

The scientific species name of this fish is nasutus, which means “long-nosed”. Oddly, this is the exact opposite of the common name of “shortnose”.
