Behavior:

As their name suggests, short bigeyes have a horizontally compressed body with large eyes. This bright red, nocturnal species is generally solitary and may occasionally defend a shelter against other fish. During the day they are often found hiding beneath overhangs and within wreck structures, while at night they hunt for small fish.

Predators:

Grouper, snapper and eels.
