Behavior:
Purple reeffish are members of the damselfish family and closely related to brown and blue chromis. They are occasionally referred to as purple chromis. Typically a blue/purple color, they can also appear brown or tan. They feed mainly on crustaceans and plankton.
Predators:
Grouper, snapper and eels.

Like other chromis species, the purple reeffish is a popular fish for marine aquarists because it co-exists relatively well with other marine creatures. It is currently classified as “least concern” by the International Union for Conservation of Nature (IUCN).
