Behavior:

Adult palometa tend to form schools over shallow coral reefs, while juveniles are more common over sand and rubble habitat. Palometas are most active during the day, feeding on crustaceans, worms, molluscs and fish.

Sharks and barracuda.

This species is found north to Cape Cod and South to Argentina. It is known by over 20 different common names, depending on the specific location. Palometa and great pompano are the most commonly names, although palometa is also associated with several species of piranha.
