Behavior:

Highhats are more typically found in shallower coastal areas but can also be found at greater depths. They often shelter beneath ledges alongside the similar looking cubbyu. Highhats have the elongated dorsal fins typical of drums, but not as exaggerated as in other drum species. They generally feed at night, preying on amphipods, shrimp and other crustaceans.
