The cubbyu, sometimes referred to as the cubbyu drum, is often found together with highhats – their lookalike congenerics in the drum family. Cubbyu prefer to shelter under ledges, and they typically feed at night on crustaceans and brittlestars.

Sharks, rays and grouper.

Did you know?

Like other members of the drum family, juvenile cubbyu have an elongated dorsal fin that is extremely large relative to their body size. This fin becomes much less pronounced as individuals age.
