Behavior:

Caesar grunts are often found in schools around artificial reefs, rocky reefs and coral reefs. Like most grunts, they are nocturnal feeders, munching on polychaetes, gastropods and small crustaceans. During the day, they form loose schools under overhangs.

Predators:

Sharks, grouper, jacks and moray eels.

Did you know?

Most grunt species settle in seagrass beds as recruits from their planktonic phase of life, often transitioning to mangroves as juveniles and then moving to coral reefs as adults. Caesar grunts however, tend to settle directly onto shallow reefs.
