Behavior:

Blackcap basslets are a solitary reef fish often found on deep walls and drop-offs hanging upside down and underneath overhangs. They are found in higher numbers in waters below 100 feet (30 meters). They feed on plankton and are more likely to form small schools in deeper water.

Predators:

Grouper, jacks, cero and barracuda.

Blackcap basslets are popular fish in the aquarium trade. Individuals have been known to live up to 12 years in captivity – twice as long as the average age of those in the wild.
