Behavior:

Black margates are often found alone or in small schools. They are nocturnal, feeding on benthic crustaceans, molluscs, smaller fish and long-spined sea urchins. During the day, they can often be found under ledges and sheltering in caves or wrecks.

Predators:

Sharks and grouper.
