Behavior:

Black jacks are distinguished from other jack species by their dark dorsal and anal fins. They are present in tropical waters throughout the world, spending most of their time in the open ocean, but occasionally visiting coral reef walls and drop-offs. Black jacks sometimes form small schools, feeding mainly at night on smaller species of fish.

Predators:

Sharks, mahi mahi and barracuda.

The black jack has a circumtropical distribution, meaning that its range extends around the world in the tropical areas of the Atlantic, Pacific and Indian Oceans. The only tropic waters they are not documented is in the Persian Gulf and Red Sea.
