Behavior:

Hamlets are often found on the seaward side of reefs. They feed during the day on crustaceans, particularly shrimp and crabs, and occasionally small fish. Hamlets are fiercely territorial and are often observed fighting with members of their own species.

Predators:

Grouper, snapper, jacks and barracuda.

There are many types of hamlet, but scientists believe they are all different varieties of the same species. Each type of hamlet can therefore breed with another, and hybrids are a relatively common sight on coral reefs.
