Behavior:
Bar jacks sometimes swim alone, but are usually found schooling in shallow, clear water near coral reefs. They feed on fish, shrimp and other invertebrates. Bar jacks sometimes feed opportunistically alongside barracudas, stingrays and even sharks. They are the most abundant species of jack in the Caribbean, and are easily approached by divers.
Predators:
Grouper, mackerel, mahi mahi and large jacks.
