Longevity:

12 to 15 years.

Almaco jacks are found all around the world, particularly in offshore waters. They closely resemble the larger greater amberjack and can be differentiated by their longer dorsal fin. They tend to reach a larger size in the Pacific than they do in the Atlantic.

Predators:

Sharks and other large pelagic fish.

Did you know?

Almaco jacks are prone to parasites, known as monogenea – small parasitic flatworms mainly found on the skin or gills. They have been known to remove them by rubbing against the rough skin of sharks and have also been observed exhibiting this behavior towards passing scuba divers.
