Behavior:
The African pompano, also known as the pennant-fish or threadfin trevally, is a tropical marine fish found in all the world’s oceans. This species is in the jack family and feeds on a range of crustaceans and small fishes. Juveniles tend to be pelagic, whereas adults prefer coastal waters and are often found on reefs and wrecks.
Predators:
Sharks and large mackerel and tunas.

It is believed that the long filamentous dorsal and anal fins of juvenile African pompano may provide some protection again predation as they resemble (mimic) jellyfish medusae.
