Behavior:

Horse-eye jacks are schooling pelagic fish that frequent the waters above offshore reefs, although juveniles are often seen inshore along sandy beaches. Adults feed on fish, shrimp and other invertebrates. They often approach divers boldly, but without posing much of a threat.

Predators:

Sharks, barracuda and mahi mahi.

Did you know?

Tag and recapture studies in Barbados and the U.S. Virgin Islands reportedly never recaptured the same fish on the same reef, suggesting that horse-eye jacks do not remain associated with a particular reef.
