Shark Planeos is an artificial reef and underwater art exhibit located on the south side of Great Dog Island that consists of three light aircraft. Two of the planes were damaged in Hurricane Irma in 2017, while a third was involved in an accident. The aircraft are a Piper Navajo, Piper Aztec and Cessna 150. The project was undertaken by local BVI non-profit Beyond The Reef and involved cleaning these aircraft and converting them into a Bull shark, a Hammerhead, and a Reef Shark by adding fins, eyes and teeth. The Shark Planeos, as the site has become known, were deployed as artificial reefs in 2019. All three are positioned in a circle roughly 40 to 50 feet (12 to 15 meters) apart with their noses facing inwards. They rest on a sandy seabed at a depth of approximately 45 feet (14 meters).
