Behavior:

Blue tangs are often found grazing on algae during the day, either individually or as part of a large school that may also contain surgeonfish, doctorfish, goatfish and parrotfish. At dusk, they settle into a reef crack or crevice to hide for the night.

Predators:

Grouper, snapper, jacks, and barracuda.

The blue tang is a member of the surgeonfish family, which gets its name from the two spines (or scalpels) located near the fish’s tail. The spine is used to defend against predators.
